A Chance Encounter in Chile
A couple on a travel adventure had the chance to go biking last March. It was a fascinating journey around Chile. After an exciting week of biking and meeting people, they decided to rest the previous day and explore the nearby waterfall on a mountain bike. So they distracted themselves from the group.
The couple was near the entrance of the Salto Merriman Waterfall when they met this fantastic stray pup. They greeted him with a quick pat on the head and headed to our destination to enjoy the sight of the waterfall.
An Unexpected Companion
It was nothing unusual as this country has so many stray pups. But to their surprise, this sweet girl puppy followed them all around.
It was as if she was guiding them throughout the journey and showing the couple the fantastic surroundings. She was always with the couple, just walking behind or leading the way. And they had her company throughout the entire journey.
She was also in some of their waterfall photos. After about an hour, the couple decided to get on their bikes and return to the hotel.
The Journey Back to the Hotel
Then, they bid farewell to the beautiful waterfall and returned to the hotel. That was when they noticed the puppy running at full speed behind them. Though the couple stopped a few times and tried to persuade her to return home, she never listened.
Instead, she continued to come behind them. She looked pretty exhausted but never stopped. They met a large pack of dogs who came barking at us at one point. Immediately, the puppy circled our bikes, barking at the pack of dogs, trying to protect the two. She went to the hotel about seven miles from the waterfall.
When the couple entered the hotel premises, the dog was still with them, following them from the waterfall. She was so tired when she found the first creek that she jumped in to refresh herself and quench her thirst. The couple named her after the hotel, and it looked like she loved the new identity. She even followed them to the couple’s rooms, and they were happy they could hang out on the back porch.
Making New Friends
The two travelers could give her a little bath in the outdoor tub. Her eyes were amazingly bright and beautiful and connected deeply with your soul.
You are sure to fall in love with her in no time. Later that night, their team met up for the group happy hour. Vira, the cute doggy, followed the couple as well. And she made everyone feel that her presence was significant, too.
Planning Her Future
Then, they thought of looking for the options available for her. They tried to check for a home for her or is it possible to take her home with them?
A few hotel staff mentioned that her immediate attachment was a sign that the puppy was meant to be with the couple. The puppy waited outside till they finished our dinner. Soon, the couple received a list of veterinarians’ contacts. This helped the couple take the steps needed and provided support for adopting the puppy and making her theirs.
The Road to Adoption
The two travelers had to wait till the morning to contact the officials. It was a sleepless night, and they were excited about this new member who would soon be added to their family. The first thing they did the following day was contact the front desk to make the necessary arrangements to meet the vets. Although the language was the problem, they could microchip and vaccinate her. Then, she was admitted to the local dog hotel, where she would be quarantined for a month before the journey.
A Temporary Farewell
The traveling couple was so sad to leave her, but they went with the thought that they would be meeting her again very soon. The couple immediately made plans to get her down. Luckily, their travel agent had a family member in Chile who ran a dog shipping company. The vet was incredibly helpful in obtaining the paperwork needed for transportation. At the end of the 30 days, their friend flew to Santiago, where she stayed for another week before all were finalized for her flight to the US.
A New Beginning in Los Angeles
It was unbelievable how she made it to the US after a long flight. They were eagerly waiting to meet her. She was well and fine, waiting to be free from her cage to meet her new owners. When the man called her name, she wagged her tail. Though they thought she would not remember them after this long, that was not the case. She has been living with them in Los Angeles for over a month. She gets along well with everyone and plays and cuddles with all. She loves hiking and visiting the park. The couple is so in love with her. And they are so thankful and lucky to have her home with us. This is a beautiful experience.

It brings me to tears how much love animals have to give and there’s people out there that treat them like crap. I’ve had so many animals that have passed and I have some that are present. I know that I will see my babies again in heaven.
